Blog #6: "Big Brother"

In the book, I couldn't think of one particular person or thing that was to be the "Big Brother", but this was the person who kept everything in order and watched over everyone. But in our society today I believe that we have something like it but I wouldn't call it a "Big Brother", but we have those who watches over us and keep us in order. Some people will say that their "Higher Being", the Government, and their societies keep them and watch over them. In our societies we also have Police officers, and every where a person go, they now have cameras and video cameras recording everything. I believe that we have to much privacy in some cases. I believe that it is actually getting worse in our communities when dealing with crimes and things like that, and help is always late rather than on time.

No Technology has good intentions!!

Okay, I must confess that I have had a great week with using less technology as possible. I found my self liking to go out and take walks around campus and off campus with my boyfriend. I also spent a lot of time dorm hopping. Visiting my friends all around campus and sharing laughs with everyone. I remember that this past weekend, we took it old school, we played truth or dare and I must say it was fun. but this last week was very productive because I had no choice but to get all my homework done.  Because of the lack of technology I would have been forced to look over my syllabus and see what assignments I have coming up and would probably start most of my work ahead of time.  Not having Technology around I would probably read, in which reading would be the only entertainment I would have useful. Also, this experiment didn't say anything about going to the mall or spending money. So I ended up going to the mall to either walk around and or to buy something. I found this very soothing. But today is the last day, So I am wondering if I will continue to use less technology or when today is over just act as if this experiment never happened.

No Cell phone Use Pt2:

Well, Lets start off by saying that I was late to class. Secondly, having to walk all the way to the lab to do work, just because my lovely laptop has a virus. Thirdly, I think I am going through it, I want to text my friends so bad but I can't. But I think I am going to have another productive day. Just because I have so much work to do, and I can not do anything but get it done. I have been very consistent with this experiment. My phone has been off, so in order to talk on the phone or get in touch with other folks, I have my friends call them for me and then tell me. The most technology that I have been using was a calculator and that has been for my ridiculous and aggravating math life!!!!!! I'm just waiting for this to be over. And of course it has been very hard not to use or even listen to music!!! YOU TRY SINGING TO YOUR SELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No cell Phone Use!!!

Okay I'm here to say that this has been one of the worst experiments I have ever done!!! The Positives of it were that I got alot of studying done, and enjoyed the company of my close friends and my boyfriend!! I'm absolutely upset that I couldn't watch my favorite television shows ever, such as the "Kardashians", "Basketball Wives", and "What Chili Wants", omg I feel so lost and incomplete, I have three days left of this. Well at least I can study for my exams this week and not have any distractions. Because I couldn't use the cell phone or the computer, I found my self at the gym alot. this weekend was actually nice so I ended up having a great time with my boo, and he even joined forces to not use the cellular device.

Blog# 4: "Why should we live with such hurry and waste of life? We are determined to be starved before we are hungry"

This week was a very interesting one. The readings and discussions were great and I really got into it this week. The Novel "Feed" was also great. It triggered some alert on a few subjects as I continued to read.  Reading this book made me wonder if our society is trying to become to advanced to soon. Or, if we are trying to put technology before everything else. Which made me consider this quote from another reading this week:
"Why should we live with such hurry and waste of life? We are determined to be starved before we are hungry".
So the question would be "WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?"
I do believe that this quote has significant meaning because it tells us that we are too much in a hurry to do anything. So I'm applying this to my theory that we are rushing to get futuristic and be advanced in technology and not considering what we are doing.

Blog# 3: Being called "The Dumbest Generation" True or False??

Being called the dumbest generation was not fair and not truthful at all. I believe that we have come to a point where we do not have to remember so much to go on further, we have the technological  resources that we can turn to and find answers quicker than before. I do understand that we should be able to recall historical events quicker than we do but some of us only concentrate on what we are most interested in. One of the articles that we discussed in class read that some younger students couldn't identify and state what an "Colored Only" sign was in the museum. I personally say that in some eyes this could be good, only reason being is because they haven't had any racial experiences where they had to know what it was and the history behind it. On the other hand some people will say that they have to learn more of their history and learn about the things that happened so that we can have racial equality today. We as the younger generations may have some things to work on and learn more but being judged as the dumbest generation is taking it too far!
